Heavy hauling again

Post by RMS » Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:40 pm

Hi guys,
Finally finished stripping what we wanted of a donor disco last week, so the carcass went to the scrappy at the weekend.
Mixed scrap steel is running at £140/ton at the moment so our 1 1/2 ton load of Disco filled with scrap (old chassis parts etc.) paid nicely

Here it is, just before the final strip:

I'd been on the lookout for a few weeks for another, to use as a donor for one of my other Carawagon projects, so it was coincidental that another one came up on Gumtree at the right price.

Just had a drive to near Hebden Bridge with John as co-driver to pick it up:

It really makes you realise just how many hills there are over that way, though low box was only needed for a couple of uphill starts :stars:

As usual, my Carawagon, with 200TDi, 3.54 diffs and strengthened towbar (braced from the bottom to chassis rails) performed well :gold:

Anyone want any alloy Disco wheels - got two sets now :thud:

Cheers,
Robin.

PS. New one is a 300TDi so we'll see how that one fits

Hi Robin

SNAP! I win.

£170 a ton for mixed scrap in Keighley yesterday. It was also full of scrap last week, but I chickened out and took the contents separately. I also have a set of alloys.

Cheers Mick
