Here we go again guess what brads had me doing, my mountaineering skills are getting better but balance I've given up on.

G'day chap's, i was a bit slow at getting going this morning but my intention's were there, to at least get a small job done which was to level out the boom tube that i had sort of fitted yesterday .
To be honest what i wanted to do required three hand's or at least someone a tad more agile than myself, that however was yesterday when tinkering on my own instead of waiting for someone to arrive with small hand's. Janie's brother arrived this morning who just happen's to have small hand's so i jumped on him to give me a hand and it was done in half the time it took me,although i must admit i was the third hand that made it easy .
Some more nice wood arrived so i dug the other out that had been kept dry and put it all together in my wood shed ready for when i choose to start on my back cupboard, this won't be yet i am afraid because i have it in my head about fitting a split charge system before completing the wiring and binding it all up .

G'day chap's, thank's to the responses to my post on split charging the old brain box has settled down having taken in what people have said, unfortunately it takes a while to digest what other's say and i end up doing a lot of pondering and thinking.
This unfortunately has me just standing and staring according to my neighbors, what they fail to realize is i am trying to work out the best neatest way of doing the job in hand, also a way to make it easier for me to get at it without struggling.
I have decided to use the oil light feed, basically because it is the handiest for me to get to and the wires in my mind would look better in conduit, also while in that area the connector block that join's the loom has proved problematic in the past so prevention is better than a quire and it will be insulated. The loom on HEC came with the bulkhead so it is at least 40 years old but my late father was happy just rectifying the issue's which to be honest is why i bought him HEC in the first place, this of course was to help him cope with his disability after a serious stroke.
With now having the live feed for the relay sorted in my mind the next step was find a relay , taking a trundle to electrical shed and the second draw i opened were some nice heavy duty military relay's .
My next job was to find a battery tray that i had bought a good few years ago that fit's under the passenger seat and was delivered to me by Robin, unfortunately that's all i remember but i know it will be safe , by this time i thought it best to repair my glasses with an arm having fallen off , not to worry as you might have guess i have a few pair's of old ones so i could rob a screw if i can see the darn thing .
An hour and a half at least later with my gorilla size arthritic hands i now can see to read Oh! and find small screws . Catch you later. R-Rose .

Nice to know I'm not the only one that on the outside stares blankly at something, whilst on the inside I'm imagining many different approaches to a problem. I find this is sometimes better than pen and paper.

I hate to say it but i am stuck , i can't bend far enough to reach in the engine bay to the loom by the foot well unless i take the wheels off the front axle and lower the truck on to axle stand's, or lift the truck up high enough for me to crawl underneath and lay on the floor to do a job that might take me anyway an hour and a half .
With the wind howling and bitter cold today it was a case of sorting thing's needed so i could get the trigger wire for the relay at the same time as encasing the loom and connection's where the front meet's the rear, over the top maybe but i will be happier with those plug's protected a bit better.
I was going to fire the old gal up and turn her round first so i am sort of protected by the truck but the cold got the better of me i am afraid.
If anybody is reading this and is thinking of maybe coming this way for a chin and a brew and maybe some your help with this little job would be appreciated .

Having only done a few small job's in the last few day's it's all to do with planning of routing the trigger wire that has to be as tidy as possible but also out of the way of any moving steering part's etc. while studying i noticed no locking washer on the drop arm {pitman arm?} from the steering box. That will be rectified after the loom is up and out of the way through a hole with rubber grummit behind the cuddy box in the flat section of the seat box come back body.
This hole with thick rubber grummit is also where the feed for the upper electrical system's are ran along with a feed that supplies what was an old speaker casing which incorporates relays for my chain pull horn-light's and other electrical equipment that i have fitted.
Although my brass nipples and female connectors are ready in order along with rather longer than needed wire the conduit is another issue, having stripped old loom's t's just a matter of getting the right length's so waste is not an issue and i am getting a tad short on the smaller gauge size.
I think i am going to do the work from underneath which mean's i am not bending my back at least reaching, having a rubber mat means i can at least relax as long as i have all what i need underneath and don't need to keep climbing out.
As you can see i have been studying/pondering to just try and make it a tad easier, and that's only the trigger wire for the relay . Hopefully with that done and the leisure battery going to be fitted in the yet to be made cupboard i will be able to make it so it will be insulated but also be vented but boxed off in it's own compartment.
I hope tomorrow will be dry so i can jack her up on axle stands if only to have a good look at my next stage. Catch you later. R-Rose .

After a rough few day's i was trunderling past a neighbor round the corner from me who was clearing out his garage called me in, he just happened to be getting rid of some woodworking tools and real fancy ones at that.
Unfortunately for me he had just got rid of his wood working lathe, not that i know what i am doing half the time but practice makes perfect sometimes anyway , his next words were i will see what i can do then out came some more tool's the conversation then went on to what i would like to do with HEC in the back regard's a cupboard with sliding door's, a storage place for a leisure battery and what ever one chooses to carry.
My first reaction was i want to try myself but with no taking the mickey, having been called a wood butcher already has stayed in my mind then some more smaller tools came out explaining what they are for and how they should be used to get the best result's.
I managed to get to the shop to send a parcel only to be told you have to do what ever on line , i could say that had been a waste of time but coming across this chap who i didn't know proved a tad fruitful to say the least .
After a and a brew i thought it was time to get under the bonnet of HEC, with the bonnet held back with a bungy i disconnected the alternator and to my surprise i had done my favorite trick and laid an extra wire in the loom , i traced the loom that is in split conduit and this spare wire goes right back to where i will be putting the relay, in fact it goes past so i am well happy so with that in mind i will be making a mounting bracket for the relay tomorrow.
Having tried to walk to Asda and being defeated again then having to turn back empty handed i just had to call it a day .
At least i got further than i did earlier in the split charge post which for me is something i guess .

Yep! it was a very slow start after yesterday , but that's another story and my own fault i guess after trying to help other's. Not realizing times have moved on and you have to organize payment etc on the computer first so my lass sent it via the post office today while i was still laid up .

Anyway i am waffling again , having found this spare wire in the loom to the alternator i thought i had better check it out and cut the small wire from the alternator a good 12 inches from the plug. With the three wires stripped and tinned the nipples were soldered in place then i just connected the double female part of the connector before binding the wiring every inch to hold thing's neat while i laid the wires back in there conduit. Over the top maybe but i then bound the conduit till i could go no further so in my eye's it look's more presentable but that's just me.

I have a good foot of the trigger wire spare at the relay end then went off to decide which relay work's as it should that has a bracket i can use to fasten it to the bulkhead, i then made the mistake of taking a brew into my small shed where the bench is clean for checking and repairing switches-relays-electric motor's and the like and sat down , my wireless was already on with some good sounds and it was then my mind wondered about which relay i would be using , it was then i happen to look outside and darkness had fallen as to where the time went i don't know but at least i am happy and in my mind a lot further on .

Well chap's having been able to shut off my thought's of what i should be doing tomorrow i seemed to have had a better night's rest, this believe it or not has cleared my head of negative thought's of why i have trouble sometimes .
After a few brew's and sharing my last one with my little dog {who pinched it while my back was turned} the little tinker, we trundled off for a short stroll before i could get started having been out with my dog at 02-30am in the white strong frost i wasn't going to rush.
Another brew for me and my dog ,her own this time! i decided i would look for my box of military relay's which with a clear mind i found almost straight away , i was not happy with the small plastic type i was going to use which is when i decided to use the military type that are not just more substantial but had two lug's to fasten it to the bulkhead.
The number's and letter's are a tad different to the standard relay so it was a case of trying to work out what terminal did what , i just couldn't remember and never thought to google .
Car battery on the bench-test light and my avo with in 15 minute's i had worked it out , so it was obvious my good sleep had done the trick until i came to put it down on paper for future reference , that was not as easy as you would think with confusion setting in again but another brew sorted that.
People have commented in the past about my wiring being tidy not now it isn't but by the time the extra feed and relay are fitted and bound and fixed it will look and work at very little cost apart from time and patience.

By this time i think the cold had started to take it's tole and i had to pack up, to be honest though i had done enough for one day anyway so am well pleased which is all that matter's.

Well again with a positive mind i thought i had better make a mounting bracket for my military relay to hold it away from the bulkhead, due to a large and small wiring loom being pinned against the bulkhead which also allow's my rather large hand's/finger's to get hold of the wires if need be.
After a bit of a hunt i found some thickish alloy and bent it to the shape needed which i then marked it up and drilled, having put it against the bulkhead to mark the bulkhead then drilled in small stages to except the riv-nut's i intended to use which in my mind are a lot better than self tapping screw's.
Although the relay worked when i tried it, with it being a metal casing i thought i would just check the point's inside or if the winding's were burnt remembering it is an old one and has been in my shed for a long time.
This of course was a slow job but one i am pleased i did, the relay is now back together still working so was bolted to the home made plate ready to fit tomorrow if thing's go to plan. Hopefully i have an old seat box coming so i can use the battery carrier rather than putting the leisure battery in the rear cupboard i am yet to build or should i say complete.
In my mind i have had a fruitful day which to me is all that matter's .
