I have no idea!
I have no idea!
G'day all. I'm in the process of dismantling my Dormobile and I need some advice on what's original Dormobile fitment and what's been added by previous owners
Firstly the toolbox (?) directly aft of the transmission tunnel under the passenger's seat: And under the driver's seat. Is this the standard panel for access to the gas bottles? Many more questions to come.
Cheers
Glen

Re: I have no idea!
Yes, both are standard
The crude hole in the gas-bottle access panel is obviously a PO's attempt to get to the valve on the bottle without removing the panel. Having to remove the drivers seat completely to turn the gas on/off is a bit of a pain.

Thank you Ian yet again . The panel is steel is that standard also?
And I can't see any straight forward way of removing the driver's seat, without undoing the 15,000 bolts and screws holding the frame in. Am I missing something?

Oh and further to that, the hole in the panel was for access to the under seat aux fuel tank. Not the best job I've seen but definitely not the worst!
Re: I have no idea!
Mine has a hinged flap in the side of the seat box to access the gas bottles. Quite a nice PO modification.
It also has a larger tool box, but this is on an early 62 (?) seat box I am using for my current rebuild. None of my other Dormobiles have had the big tool box

At the front there should be a lever to allow the seat to slide fore and aft, by holding it fully open you will be able to slide the seat forward on the rails to remove it, just take your time, it's probably been many years since runners saw any lubricant, so second pair of hands or feet from the rear to encourage seat base to move forward would help.Litelandy wrote:Thank you Ian yet again . Re: I have no idea!
again , later ones had slightly different runners that just fit the back and have the Dormobile screws into plates at the front
Makes removal comparatively easy

Hi all
I have one of the larger tool boxes in my shed. I think it came with my Dormobile, but as the seatbox was missing, I never knew how it fitted? All now becomes clear.

Thanks everyone. I had a win tonight. Finally got the seat removed (it slid surprisingly easily on the runners) but not before I had to remove the s3 hand brake lever that was stopping the seat from going all the way forward!
The centre toolbox is retained by 2 screws along the front edge and a lip around the periphery. It's not sealed along the back edge and is open to along dust/dirt to enter the vehicle. Is that normal?
Cheers

Glad it's sorted Jabbawocky! I did notice tonight that with the toolbox installed it doesn't leave much room for an overdrive! It'll be a hard choiceJabbawocky wrote:Hi all
