where to put batteries?

I am contemplating having a twin battery set up in the new dormobile so as to have a split charge set up.
Any ideas where to put them ? My seat box has to be altered so as to take any battery, but it does seem a tad tight to get two in there.
What have others done?

Alex, why do you need two batteries in the seatbox?
Both our 200TDis and both Prima conversions have the starter battery under the bonnet.
Ok, you do need to make a new battery mount, or at least cut off the old one and move it, but there is room and that leaves the seatbox for the aux battery.
If you get a chance, pop over and look at ours to give you some ideas of positioning.

Robin.

hi alex
my station wagon has 1 battery under the bonnet, and
1 under the passenger seat.this leaves room under the seat
for an inverter

My Carawagon (Set up by my Dad, as you know) has split charge and it works beautifully - a standard battery under the bonnet, and a leisure battery under the passenger seat. They are a bit awkward to get in there, I put a length of fabric strapping around it to help lower it down, and pull it out again should I need to. Then it's held in place by some wooden T pieces, and the remaining space is used for spare parts storage.
You may be able to squeese two in..the hard part would be getting them in there, the hatch is narrower than the box if I remember correctly?
The leisure battery will run the fridge, heater and lights for a couple of days, without needing to worry about whether it'll still start

It all makes wonderful sense, but I haven't got a battery frame thing on the chassis.
I will put it on the list of things that John has to do!!
Thanks

Hi Alex,
I've put a post about my seat box modifications elsewhere in this section, I've just put the whole thing back in the dormobile to test it out and I was really shocked how much quieter the vehicle is
I'll post some more pics there.
