Hi guys,

I know this one is a fair distance for most of us, but Mark Woodward really wants us to support this event.

EASTNOR LINK HERE

He's trying to build the show up again after taking it over, so has asked us to put on a stand there.

We have up to 8 free passes, but we need to know very soon who intends going.

Please PM me ASAP if you want to go to this one.

Cheers,
Robin.

I've now got the passes for the Eastnor show, and I'll be sending out a total of one pass :thud:

Looks like it's just me and new member Keith (cibrith) camping!

Anyone else?????????????????????????????????????

Well guys, I made it here
368 miles to Truro on Wed, wild camped at Truro football club where they encourage HGVs to park overnight ((reduced vandalism!). They even let you use the changing rooms so had a hot shower yesterday morning :nana1:

Picked up the Carawsgon body yesterday morning, had a walk around Truro then set off for Eastnor (220 miles).

I arrived last night and set up camp - lots of traders already setting up but I'm the first show vehicle here :gold:

S2C members hope to start arriving lunch time, so won't be on my own for long.

I could try to post pics but still not worked out how to reduce size on my android clone

Cheers,
Robin.

Yes, a Carawagon Caravan has been considered, but I think it will be more useful as a 'proper' Carawagon

Here's the show stand on a sunny Sunday, the best day of the show after the thunderstorms on Friday night and most of Saturday.

The show was looking as if it was going to be a bit of a washout on Friday night. There were only a few vehicles made it onto the showground before the Eastnor Castle administration put a 'vehicle movement prohibition notice' on the organiser as they thought the showground would be trashed.
We managed to bluff a few more vehicles on that evening, so the Series 2 Club stand next door had a few more on, and another few made it on the next morning including Keith in his Dormobile to join me on the LRCC stand before a full stop was put on.

That meant some of the show stands and traders had to set up on the car park area so we ended up with two showgrounds!

We ended up staying on the stands for most of the weekend and not visiting the trade stands or other stands as the mud was just getting too bad. It was definitely welly weather! The ambulance was put into operation at least twice for visitors who slipped and possibly broke bones :aaagh:

As there were only two of us on our stand, we joined the S2C for the Saturday evening around their firepit in the improving weather (as you can see, the sun came out :nana1: ) with Pete (Nitemare on the S2C forum) acting as head chef on his Mk3 firepit.

It was a good evening with most of us getting to bed around 2am with just a couple who saw the night through.

Our thanks go to the S2C members there who made us welcome - it wouldn't have been the same with just two of us huddled around our firepit :embarassed:

So, another good show (for us if not for the public!) and another show where LRCC was represented.

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Phillip,

The trailer will definitely be kept as a mid-size one, but I might move the axle forward a little.

I do like the fact that it was so stable with the axle right at the back, even up to 70mph

I almost always end up with a tension headache when towing big trailers as every little twitch has me gripping the wheel, expecting the trailer to start snaking :aaagh: but I found this one was a pleasure to tow, even fully loaded.

I would just have to watch the nose weight in that configuration, not that it matters much with a heavyweight Carawagon but on the car it might be a different matter! The picture which shows it loaded was before I dropped the slider down to the bottom two holes, so it looks a little 'front-up' - it was fine before I loaded it up, but the suspension dropped about 3" with the body on it :stars:

Oh, and I also strengthened the towing plate on the Carawagon with 2"x1/4" stock steel from the bottom of the ladder to the rear spring hangers, so that's another worry out of my mind when towing the car transporter trailer :gold:

A group of us from Shropshire Land Rovers drove down in convoy to the Eastnor Show. It was slow going at times as Sean is hard to drag away from such things as in the pic' below .

Oi! Sean! The show's closing in 5 min's .
