Hello, thought it polite to make an introduction to this excellent and, for myself, recently discovered site. Superb to read about the proper classic LR campers.

Whilst my 1968 109 2.6 (purchased from the original owner!) isn't an "official" camper, it's used as such on occasion. Korean war issue sleeping bag and Romany iron tripod supporting a proper pot over a fire outside ... heaven.

Subtle refinements planned for the summer, however the aim has always been to have a "sleeper" sleeper with a rough minimalist core.

I'll try to remember and take photos on the next trips.

Hi Man of Kent, and welcome.

I tried sleeping in a 109 I had (Rex the Rat) and although I found it fine for sleeping (if I ignored the sleet blowing in horizontally between tub and sides ) I much prefer my Carawagon now
I'm looking forward to pics of your layout and camp set up. There are a few on here who use their LWB for sleeping, and others who might be inspired

I avoid the drafts, Robin, with an internal "curtain" of ex-British army green thermal tarp sheets, designed for hiding trucks and tanks from thermal cameras. Two sections, overlapping front and back for access, hung on metal cord about 9 inches from the top, with a extra foot of length on the bottom, gives internal privacy, looks "right" from the outside, keeps life warm, comes down and rolls away in seconds. A few bungee cords/rope and one of the sides turns into a waterproof awning against the outside side of the 109. Cost under £20.

A customised cut-down ex-British army collapsible canvas/steel bed on feet keeps ones body away from the cold floor, is comfortable and packs down in seconds. Cost under £10.

I'll look to write up the other designs, including plumbing and cooking, shortly.
