Ripley Castle Classic Car & 4X4 Show, 27th May

Hi, just a reminder that there's a Mark Woodward Classic Car and Motorcycle + 4X4 show this coming Bank Holiday Monday :gold:
(Website HERE)

This is always a good show - not very big, but friendly

Don't be put off by the 4X4 bit - they used to get loads of Discos, and a few 'other make' 4X4s, but at last year's show there were only Series (if you don't count Neil's Defender  ) with very few other Land Rovers.

LRCC are going to be there, as usual, camping the night before.

If you haven't pre-booked (at £3.50 per vehicle + 2 pax), you can pay on the gate (£6 I think).

If you come in a lesser vehicle and park in the car park and walk in, it's £6.50 per person :aaagh: so it's worth making the effort to get there fairly early and come and join us on the showground with your Series

It's in the castle grounds (deer park) and is one of our favourite shows. Mark, the organiser, is a big LR fan and always makes us feel welcome.

Oh, and LRCC won Best Show Stand last year :gold: :gold: :gold:

There's our show report from last year HERE.

If you do intend coming, please let me know so we can make sure we leave space for you.

Hope to see lots of folk there.

Cheers,
Robin.

Let's hope you get better weather this year Robin  and maybe another trophy :gold:

I took my dormobile down to the Sydney Land rover Expo a couple of years ago, it was monsoon rains and winds and we were like drowned rats. But to our surprise we picked up the trophy for best camper in show which seemed to make it all worthwhile.

Good to hear you're coming Neil

As the show is on Monday, the earliest we can get on the park is Sunday at 2pm.

As you know, last year we managed to get access for two nights, but the management staff at the castle has changed so that's no longer possible

We did consider staying somewhere else on Saturday night, perhaps wild camping, but as Steve, Patrick & I need to be at the HUBB show next Wednesday until Sunday (4 day event and they want us set up on Wednesday :stars: ), we thought we ought to spend a little bit of time at home with our other families

See you at Ripley on Sunday afternoon

Cheers,
Robin.

Thanks Jerry, though if you look at that photo, we had blue skies the day before the show!

I don't think they will give us the best stand award two years running, but you never know

Cheers,
Robin.

Planning to have a quick look around Catterick Market in the morning on the way down.

What a great weekend - it almost feels like summer is approaching; it was sunny when we arrived yesterday and although it got a bit chilly overnight, it was sunny and warm today as well

None of last year's thunderstorms and everyone sheltering under our tarps, though we still had lots of visitors.

As usual, the query which most got on our nerves was "Did you make the roofs yourselves?" :thud:

The first outing for my new firepit - it still needs one or two tweaks, but worked well and it all comes apart and stores inside
