Not for the faint-hearted, this will require complete restoration if not a complete rebuild!
HERE
It might be my imagination, or the camera angle, but it looks like the chassis might be a little bit broken
Cheers,
Robin.

BASKET CASE
This one would be ideal for someone with a halfway decent 109" station wagon as a donor! On the plus side it looks complete, this is a big deal in the Dormi world!!!

Exactly Dan - not even I'm tempted by this one
I suppose if it was just around the corner I might, but as you say, you'd need a SW donor, or at least a chassis and possibly a bulkhead to make this one work

Don't know what you are all going on about? Looks pretty good to me compared with Barney. Barney was snapped in the middle and at both ends. As said, look like most things are there. The only problem with this one is the reg? All Dormobiles should have a Maidstone registration. This one is Taunton? Has it had it's reg robbed at some time?

Mine is Herefordshire I think...

The reg could be different if it wasn't converted as new.
Possibly bought as a standard Land Rover, then taken to Dormobile some time later to be converted
As I say, if it wasn't so far away I would probably consider it, though that would be three projects on the front lawn, so maybe not
Cheers,
Robin.

Mick, not too sure if that is correct. My Dormy carries a Stirling registration. While DVLA can't provide a copy of the first log book I do have a copy of the continuation book date stamped in 72.
Bea did confirm the "Out of Despatch" date as Aug. 1966, subsequently registered in Feb. 67 and I have seen nothing to suggest that this is not the original reg.

Ian

On a similar note, one of my projects will be a 1958 Carawagon!
Shock, Horror, I hear people gasp, but these conversion companies (Searle, Martin Walters etc.) would have been just as happy to convert a used vehicle as one fresh from the factory.
I just happen to have a 1958 LWB truck cab and a complete Carawagon body with complete interior and roof. The rest of the Carawagon has long since gone - the guy who sold me the body had cut the rotten chassis away from the body to re-chassis it and then abandoned the project.
I have no issues with doing what Searle might have done years ago; after all, they are just big boys meccano sets
Cheers,
Robin.

We don't care Robin, it is only a Carawagon!!
As I said Dormy, mine is a Herefordshire number plate I believe, I have no reason to believe it isn't original either, however I need still need to investigate the history.
