This years insurance trials...

OK, feel free to let me know if you have experienced the same!!

FJ would no longer insure my Dormobile as a Classic Land Rover, but had it switched to a Classic Camper... The cost of the insurance subsequently increased considerably.... Last year I had all three LR's on one policy and it was cost effective, this year it would have cost me in excess of £300. This is not an issue in itself as the 58' has no gone to my dad and the 65' is in bits (and I can't get insurance on it in bits..)

So after going around the various firms I am insuring with Heritage this year on a Classic policy. This doesn't have breakdown but then again I don't need it as I have it separately. It does include 90 days European Cover and an agreed value on the old girl (I have also upped the insurance value considerably after realising how grossly under insured I am at this moment :thud: this also had an effect on premiums).

Well until the 65' is rebuilt we are done for another year....

Over £300 a year, ouch :neener: . In order to prevent me falling into a pit of lack of motivation and depression, I haven't even enquired how much a 1965 Dormobile, with an engine of over 2l, for a 17 year old, male, single driver is... :aaagh: ("Hi, will you marry me? It's just my insurance is a bit high at the moment..." )

Anyway, hope it's sorted out for you now  .

Ant

Hi Dan

Just been through the mill today, myself. Discovered this morning that I have not had insurance on my vehicles since 20th June. Good job I haven't been anywhere at all in my vehicles!!

Never had an issue with Footman James, as they have always give me great service. Unfortunately, for them, they want me to fill in loads of forms before insuring me, so I rang Heritage. They matched FJ's price and covered me from this evening.

Just wondered what you valued your truck at?

Mick

Emailed you Mick. I occasionally think open forum hmmm. If anyone else I know is interested I am happy to discuss as I think value is getting much harder to pin down... Feel free to PM.

Heritage for me this year again, even the laid up cover was a bargain, with no requirement for photographs.
