Flying along and then chuff, chuff, chuff

Had a major failure today. It was all going so well. The sun was shining and I was cracking on off road. The engine was working hard as the warm wet weather has made the grass grow and it was a struggle getting through. Then all of a sudden we stopped dead and the engine died. Tried to restart, but all I got was chuff, chuff, chuff from the engine. Could be a blown head gasket or have a holed a piston? So, guess what I am going to have to do tomorrow!!
Luckily, I won't have to use the engine crane, the lawn mower is light enough to lift onto the bench. Sounds pretty bad and probably an economic right off.

Anybody got a Lawn mower they do not want? Had to finish the grass with a 10" cut electric mini mower and that nearly killed me.

Hi Mick,
I've just replaced my slightly faulty mower with a new one - so you are welcome to my old one.
The pull start is broken, my neighbour gave me a replacement for it, which just need the spring winding up and putting back together. (I've been starting it with a socket on a drill which is much easier...)
Can't remember the make, but it's a fairly standard petrol mower.

I can take it to Ripon this weekend if you want to pop over there, Mick?
You could show your Dormobile on the Sunday, or join us around the firepit on Saturday night
It's a reasonable sized mower, as far as I remember, at least 18", and runs well.
Cheers,
Robin.

HI Patrick and Robin
Yes, please for the mower as I can see it taking several weeks to sort mine, if it can be repaired, and my grass is growing like mad at the moment. If you could take it to Ripon, that would be great. I will probably pop over Saturday evening, if that is ok? I would love to show the Dormobile on the Sunday, but i have just too many jobs to do on the vehicles, on the house and I really want to get the dog kennel done for Ripley Castle. Louise is coming for the show and therefore, so are the dogs.
Cheers Mick
